Independent filmmakers network Shooting People are currently supporting MOFILM’s Rome Film Festival competition. They’re looking for filmmakers to create engaging ads for one (or more) of 7 brands. These need not be dry or dull - the opposite in fact. They want to see creative and unique approaches to the briefs. For your efforts you have the chance of picking up a lot of prizes, including $82,000, a car, a trip to one of two eco-tourism resorts in Australia and India, 5 Kodak Zi8 Digital Video Cameras, 5 Nokia technology packs and round trip airfare for you and a guest to Rome plus 3 nights accommodation. In addition to this, any Shooting People member that enters automatically goes into a draw to win a high-def Canon 5D Mark II camera, regardless of whether you’re a medalist in any of the competitions.

Not a member? Fear not. Shooting People are offering free trial memberships during the competition. Just follow this url to claim it http://shootingpeople.org/mofilm/.

In a dimly-lit attic, terrifying plans are afoot. The Brothers and Sisters Grimm are drawing schedules on the wall and sigils on the floor; preparing to conjure up this year’s dark celebration of all things uncanny. Already, a Great Darkness is stirring, gaining strength, readying itself to traumatise the city of Manchester with a carefully-chosen arsenal of soul-destroying cinematic horrors. But it needs feeding: It needs FILMS! This is not so much a call, as a scream for submissions – we are looking for shorts and features, before it’s too late! Help us feed the Darkness - and when it takes over entirely you will have a place in its Kingdom!

We are now seeking short films and features for the Seventh Salford Film Festival, scheduled for 10th - 14th November 2010. The Festival prides itself on having a local accent but a truly international perspective: We are particularly keen to receive work with a strong Salford connection (and failing that a Greater Manchester or North West focus), but we have a totally open submission policy and welcome films from all over the world. There is no submission fee.

Submissions should be sent on DVD to: Steve Balshaw, Programme Manager, Salford Film Festival, The International Media Centre, Adelphi House, Salford Crescent, Salford, M3 6EN, UK.

Further information and submission form available from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or from our website www.salfordfilmfestival.org.uk.

Deadline for submissions is August 20th. Any submissions after this date will be at the discretion of the Programme Manager.
