Cultural Endowment of Estonia PDF Print E-mail

The Cultural Endowment of Estonia is a legal person in public law the objective of the activities of which is to support the arts, folk culture, physical fitness and sport and the construction and renovation of cultural buildings by the accumulation of funds and distribution thereof for specific purposes. Grants of the Cultural Endowment for individuals are equivalent to state grants. The functions of the Cultural Endowment are to: support projects which promote, introduce and popularise the arts and sport, artistic associations, research related to culture and sport, and to further the development of the arts, folk culture, physical fitness and sport; support outstanding figures in the arts and sport, and their families upon their death; support talented persons with development potential in various areas of culture and sport and to facilitate their individual development; support the commemoration of deceased figures in the arts and sport.

Estonian National Culture Foundation PDF Print E-mail

The Supreme Council of the Republic of Estonia established the Estonian National Culture Foundation on June 19, 1991. Its aim is to aid the preservation and development of Estonian national culture. Since 1991, the Foundation has issued scholarships and subsidies totalling thirty-two million Estonian kroons.

EFF - Estonian Film Foundation PDF Print E-mail

Estonian Film Foundation (EFF) was established in 1997 by the Government of Estonia as a private legal institution with the task of: financing Estonian film production, establishing and developing international film contacts, promoting Estonian films at home and abroad, supporting the training of Estonian filmmakers and audiovisual professionals, creating and maintaining Estonian film databases. Estonian Film Foundation represents Estonia at international film festivals, markets and organisations. Estonia is a member of MEDIA Plus and European Audiovisual Observatory. As of January 2004, Estonia also joined Eurimages.

Estonian Institute PDF Print E-mail

The Estonian Institute was founded in 1989. Its activities are supported by the Ministry of Culture; the majority of projects are funded by a number of different sources. In its foundation, the Institute followed the model of various organisations which have been successfully introducing and mediating the culture of their countries for decades (e.g. the British Council, Swedish Institute, Danish Cultural Institute, Goethe Institute). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a long-standing partner as regards the publication and distribution of the information materials about Estonia. In addition, the Institute has had a great number of co-operation projects with several other institutions from the public, private and third sectors.

MEDIA Desk Latvia PDF Print E-mail

The MEDIA Desk in Latvia operates within the structure of the National Film Centre of Latvia (www.nfc.lv). The NFC is a state financed organisation under the Ministry of Culture overseeing the film branch in Latvia, giving Government's financial support to Latvian films, preserving the national audio-visual heritage, promoting Latvian films abroad and co-operating with the relevant international and national organisations.
